Emma Pethybridge
Founder + CEO
Emma has worked in this field throughout Australia, North America, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
She’s a member of the RedR Humanitarian Roster in international development and has been on the Board of Directors of the National Parks Association of QLD. She was a member of the National Indigenous Protected Area Sub-Committee advising the Minister and is currently on the Cradle Coast NRM Committee in Tasmania.
She spent 10 years with the Indigenous Land + Sea Corporation, leading teams to help Indigenous people acquire and manage Country and start land and sea-based enterprises. Emma has also worked with Emirates-Nature-WWF, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre, Swisscontact Vietnam, Expo 2020 Dubai’s Sustainability Pavilion and the Australian Museum.
Emma founded Ethical Republic in 2020 and continues to lead on projects.
Naomi Ploos van Amstel
Research Officer
Naomi has a passion for bringing nature and communities together.
With an academic background in nature conservation policy, she has worked on several research projects globally, including with Mabuwaya Foundation in the Philippines + the Turtle Survival Alliance in Madagascar. She’s been involved with the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management’s community engagement programs + delivers environmental education sessions with Ocean Connect on the Gold Coast.
A current PhD candidate, she aims to further understand how to improve collective management of protected areas.
Naomi is a regular volunteer on citizen science projects with Ocean Connect to assess sea slug + nudibranch populations in local waterways.
Philippe Antes

Philippe is a major events specialist with a background in global hospitality and commercial food and beverage initiatives, including in the context of cultural attractions and experiences.
He has worked on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Expo 2020 in Dubai, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
Philippe is the Commercial Manager, Business Development with Cater Care and from time-to-time supports on positive impact tourism projects and financial modelling of nature-based enterprises and revenue generating strategies.
